Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 is one of the most famous smartphones in the market. It's Official Gingerbread Update for Indian Users rolled out in February 2012. Check out the screenshots below:
Today I am going to teach you how to upgrade your Indian Galaxy Ace to Gingerbread 2.3.6 via Odin. This process will not brick or damage your phone at any cost if you follow the steps correctly.
1. Make a backup of every thing on internal memory of your handset including SMS, Call Logs, Contacts and any other data.
2. Your handset needs to be charged at a minimum of 50% so that it does not shut down in between the flashing of firmware.
3. Download the latest Indian firmware S5830DDKQ8_S5830ODDKQ7_INU.zip from links below the blog post.
4. Also download Cooper.ops and Odin Multi Downloader v4.38 from links below.
5. Now you need a PC running Windows, Samsung USB Drivers and all firewalls and antivirus should be disabled for this upgrade process.
6.ExtractS5830DDKQ8_S5830ODDKQ7_S5830DDKQ8_HOME.tar file from the firmware package.
7. Run Odin Multi Downloader v4.38 as Administrator.
8. Put your smartphone in downloading mode. For this you need to Power Off the phone and then press "Volume Down ++ Home Button ++ Power On button" simultaneously.
9. Now Connect it through a USB cable to the PC. Now at this time your computer has connected the handset via Odin and you can see the connected COM port in yellow box in Odin Multi Downloader.
10. Now click the Select OPS and choose the destination of Cooper.ops file you just downloaded. Click on Protect OPS, One Package, and Auto Reboot on left side of the Select OPS option.
11. Now click on One package and choose the S5830DDKQ8_S5830ODDKQ7_S5830DDKQ8_HOME.tar file you extracted above.
12. Now click on Start and wait for 5-10 minutes to flash Gingerbread 2.3.6 in your Ace by Odin.
13. After the process is completed, the yellow window will turn blue saying PASS. At this time you should disconnect your phone and Voila it is now running the latest Indian firmware.
Note: After flashing the upgrade,if your handset gets stuck in Bootloop sequence i.e restarting again and again, you should remove the battery and then restart your Ace in Recovery Mode. This can be done by pressing "Home ++ Power Button" simultaneously. Now go to "wipe data/factory reset" by volume keys and click on it by Home key. After wiping phone data, go to "wipe cache partition" and select it by home key too. Now after wiping cache partition click on "reboot system now". Now your Ace should power on with Gingerbread 2.3.6 running in it.
